Privacy Policy

• Account details: your name, email address, username, password (stored scrambled, never readable), the age group you confirmed, and when you accepted our Terms.
• Profile: anything you add, such as a photo, banner, headline and About section.
• What you post: lessons, courses, live classes, quizzes, comments, ratings, reviews, messages and reports.
• Learning activity: lessons you watch, subscriptions, learning paths, quiz answers and scores, certificates, purchases and live classes you join (including how long you were in them).
• Live classes: your camera, microphone and screen are shared with the class only when you turn them on. Classes may be recorded by the teacher.
• Payments: handled by Stripe. We receive whether a payment succeeded, the amount and your email — never your full card number. Teachers give their payout details to Stripe, not to us.
• Technical data: a sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in, your IP address (used to protect accounts from password guessing) and basic server logs.

• To run the site: your account, lessons, live classes, quizzes, certificates and payments.
• To send emails you need: sign-in codes, password resets, receipts, class reminders and changes to classes you've signed up for.
• To keep the site safe: stopping password guessing, spam and abuse, and reviewing reports.
• To improve the site, using totals and trends rather than looking at individuals.

• Everyone: teacher pages, public lessons and courses, your name and username on comments and reviews, and certificate pages (anyone with the link).
• Teachers: the names and usernames of their subscribers and students, their students' quiz results for their quizzes, and who joined their live classes.
• Other students in a live class: your name, username and chat messages, and your video and audio if you turn them on.
• Us: site administrators can see account details to provide support and keep the site safe.

We share only what each service needs to do its job:

• Stripe — payments and teacher payouts.
• Amazon Web Services — hosting, video storage and delivery.
• LiveKit — live class video.
• Resend — sending email.
• Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams — only if a teacher runs a class there and you join it.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.

We use a small number of essential cookies: one keeps you signed in and one remembers whether you're in Student or Teacher mode. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account we delete your profile, the content you uploaded, your comments, ratings, quiz results and certificates. We keep payment records as long as the law requires (for taxes and accounting); backups are overwritten within about a week.

• Edit your profile any time, and delete your account from the Account page.
• Ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, by emailing support@almamater.life. We'll respond within 30 days.
• Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU), you may have extra rights; we honor them on request.

almamater LIFE is not for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. Students aged 13 to 17 need a parent's or guardian's permission. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email us and we'll delete it.

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), scrambled passwords, limits on login attempts, private video links that expire, and nightly backups. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password you don't use anywhere else.
