Terms of Service

• You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
• If you are 13 to 17, a parent or legal guardian must agree to these Terms for you and supervise your use of the site.
• Teachers must be at least 18 years old.
• You may not use the site if we have suspended or removed your account, or if the law doesn't allow you to.

• Give accurate information, keep your password private, and tell us right away if you think someone else is using your account.
• You are responsible for what happens in your account.
• You can delete your account at any time from your Account page.

If you teach on almamater LIFE:

• You keep ownership of the lessons, courses, quizzes and other material you upload (“your content”).
• You give almamater LIFE a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, convert, display, stream and promote your content on and for the site, for as long as it is on the site (and for a reasonable time after you remove it so that backups expire).
• You confirm you have the rights to everything you upload, including music, images, video and documents.
• Describe yourself and your credentials honestly. Don't claim degrees, certifications, licenses or experience you don't have.
• You are responsible for your teaching, your content and your interactions with students, and for following the Community Guidelines.
• You are an independent teacher, not an employee or agent of almamater LIFE.

• Teachers choose whether a lesson, course or live class is free or paid, and set its price.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. We don't see or store your full card number. By paying or receiving payouts you also agree to Stripe's terms.
• From each sale, almamater LIFE keeps a service fee of 15% plus the card processing fee charged by Stripe (currently 2.9% + 30¢ per payment). The teacher receives the rest through their Stripe account; Stripe's payout timing applies. The Payouts page shows the exact amount for each price.
• Teachers are responsible for any taxes on their earnings and for providing accurate information to Stripe. Stripe may ask teachers to verify their identity before paying them.
• Teacher Plans (for live video) are monthly subscriptions that renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel any time from Studio → Plan; your Plan stays active until the end of the month you paid for. Use beyond what your Plan includes is billed as shown on the Plan page.
• A purchase gives you personal access to that lesson, course or class for as long as it remains on the site. You may not share or resell access.
• Refunds follow our Refund Policy.

• Live classes may be recorded by the teacher and saved as a lesson. The class page shows when a recording is on.
• In some classes students may turn on their camera and microphone. Only do so if you're comfortable being seen and heard by the class.
• Classes held on Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams are also subject to those services' own terms.
• Teachers may remove anyone who disrupts a class.

• Certificates show that a student passed a teacher's quiz on almamater LIFE.
• They are not academic degrees, accredited credits or professional licenses, and almamater LIFE does not verify the content of teachers' courses.
• Take quizzes yourself. We may cancel certificates earned dishonestly.

Follow the Community Guidelines. In short, don't: harass or endanger anyone; post sexual, hateful, violent or illegal content; infringe others' rights; spam or scam; try to break, overload or get around the site's security; or collect other people's information.

We may remove content, end live classes, and suspend or close accounts that break these Terms, and we may report illegal activity to the authorities.

If you believe content on almamater LIFE infringes your copyright, email support@almamater.life with: the work you own, the page where the infringing material appears, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized, a statement that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner, and your signature. We remove infringing material and close the accounts of repeat infringers.

Teachers, not almamater LIFE, create the lessons and decide what to teach. We don't guarantee that any content is accurate, complete or right for you, or that the site will always be available or error-free. The site is provided “as is”.

To the fullest extent the law allows, almamater LIFE is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for anything a teacher or other member does. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.

You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms or put others at risk. When an account is closed, content it uploaded is removed from the site; students who bought that content may lose access to it.

We may update these Terms as the site grows. If the changes are significant we'll let you know on the site or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the site after that means you accept the new Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state where almamater LIFE is based, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Questions? Email support@almamater.life.
